Over the weekend Shareworld was repeatedly attacked by a spammer - the target was the Question and Answer service that we provide.
We have now blocked the offending user by IP address(s).

If any of our genuine readers came across this Spam we sincerely apologise.

Update: 12th February 2010

Since these attacks we have now implemented a Spam Protection System for the Question and Answer Service - hopefully this will prevent any more spam from getting through to the site.

Shareworld approaches 100,000 visitors!

Shareworld is sad to announce the end of its partnership with Amazon.co.uk.

We have now added a search facility to Shareworld - located at the top-righthand corner of all pages.

Internet search giant Google has lifted the lid on its operating system, known as Chrome OS.

Shareworld attended the Shares Awards 2009 last night (Tuesday 17th November 2009). We had a very enjoyable evening. It was a great chance to meet some really interesting people.

Keep an eye on Dev.Shareworld.co.uk for an insight to up and coming changes at Shareworld - In 2010 we have big plans to make Shareworld a more user friendly experience - so if you have any changes you would like to see, let us know about them here.

We are looking for writers to help out on Shareworld. At the moment we are only offering voluntary positions. But we are also trying to enable funding for this venture so that we can pay writers....

We have recently added support on Shareworld for Twitter.

On all of our pages you will now see a link at the top right to either tweet the current page - which means you can add a post on Twitter about that page. And also you will see a link to follow Shareworld on Twitter.

We are always working on increasing the loading speed of Shareworld to make things better for our readers. Recently we have made good progress in our efforts with the use of "sprites" - this means all the individual images on our site are grouped together; this reduces the amount of queries to the server and also reduces the combined size of the images.

Shareworld attended a Redmayne Bentley Seminar at Grays Inn, London on Wednesday 21st October 2009 presented by Tony Craze, Investment Manager at Redmayne Bentley and Russ Mould, Editor for Shares Magazine.

We have finally fixed a bug with the question and answer service - we had problems with using multiple templates but thanks to Coldman at CMS Made Simple we have corrected this and now we can have different templates for the questions on the home page and the full list of questions on the FAQ page.

We have recently made some small but helpful changes to the question and answer service: Firstly, we have modified the display of questions on the home page so that only the question will be displayed initially, then once the question has been answered by our expert, a "read answer" link will be displayed and the answer can be viewed on a new page.

Secondly, we have now installed a much more reliable search facility in our FAQ so that all of our previously answered questions can be searched - where our previous search facility only worked with internet explorer, the new search should work with all browsers. It also displays percentage match for search terms (Thanks again to CMS Made Simple for another great module).

Our Question and Answer service has been offline for the last few days, but is now up and running again. Maintenance work that we carried out had caused some problems with the form, but we have now corrected the problem.

Today is the official launch day of the Shareworld Investment Forum - A place where our readers and our Expert can discuss all aspects of Shares and Finance including Share trading tips, problem solving, discussion about the current stock market climate and anything else related to Investment.

After watching how our Question and Answer services was working, we decided to create the Investment Forum as an extension of this service - the difference is that rather than our readers just posting a single question and receiving an answer they can now post the question in our Forum and as well as receiving a prompt answer, they can also expand on there original question, ask follow up questions to our expert and can also get involved in discussions with other readers on the forum.

We are hoping the Forum will turn into a much more robust platform for passing on knowledge to our readers. I would ask all of our readers to please join our Forum and to start discussions - it will be slow to get the forum going as Im sure people will be reluctant to join while there are not many posts, but if we all make an effort Im sure it will turn into a great place of discussion.

Not keen on Investments or share trading? Dont worry, the Forum also has a "General Discussion" section where you can discuss topics unrelated to investment! Enjoy!
