Company Information
The industry of computer animation has flourished in the last decade due to the constant development of software programs and technology. Furthermore, the demand for this type of entertainment has increased at an international scale due to the expansion of cable and satellite television and the continuously growing community with access to the Internet.
If you have not already heard about the newly arrived Sports Star Media Plc on the animated entertainment market, allow us to tell what you should know about it.
About the Company
Its main goal is to develop and facilitate the creation of a brand new series for television, made especially for children worldwide. The company intends to call this animation sports series “Mourinho and the Special Ones,” also known as MSO. Currently, the series is not completed, but the work begins as soon as it raises the necessary funds. The new series targets children between 6 and 12 years old.
Special Factory, Unipessoal, Lda is the company’s subsidiary in Portugal. Both Sports Star Media and its subsidiary have exclusive rights to use popular sports star José Mourinho’s name and image in the MSO’s series and subsequent merchandise.
Sports Star Media or SSM, will need approximately £1.75 million for producing the first 26 episodes of the series. A single episode is estimated to cost over €26k. Currently, the company’s directors search admission to AIM.
Sports Stars Media plc raised £1.6 million via a Placing and offer led by Dowgate Capital Stockbrokers. Dealing started on AIM on 15th February 2012.
In the long term, when the MSO series turns out to be a success, the plan is to produce additional series featuring other popular celebrities from the world of international sports. The first 26 episodes are planned to be released by the end of 2012, so its impact on the market remains to be seen.
Mourinho and Special Ones Story
The main characters will be a team of young children who have the privilege to study at a popular football school. Their coach will be the renowned José Mourinho. The Portuguese coach is, since 2010, the manager of the Spanish Football Club, Real Madrid. From 2004, when he was the manager at Chelsea, the British Football Club, he was known as the Special One, as he referred to himself on several occasions.
In the MSO series, Mourinho’s role is to teach the children how to become famous football players and also to help them pass through the hardships of life and become valuable human beings.
The story focuses on the idea that each and every child is unique and can be special. Moreover, through their own unique abilities, they can become a success and a role model for younger generations.
In lesser words, the storyline is intended to represent a journey through adolescence with football as the starting point. The sport plays a significant role in the life of the youngsters, shaping their personalities and social abilities.
The series is also about friendship, the idea of sharing and loyalty between colleagues next to sportsmanship and the team’s desire to win.
The story is enjoyable and fit for children because it talks about the values and principles each child should have and develop. Next to its teachings, the series promises state-of-the-art computer animation. Moreover, it will be a worthy way for children to spend time watching television.
Gombby
SSM is also responsible for the Gombby series created especially for pre-school children. Gombby currently has 52 episodes with an individual length of 13 minutes.
The international distribution rights belong exclusively to Magnistage. Until now, the series is present on Portuguese and Spanish television programs and its popularity is increasing. The Gombby series is appealing to the Canadian, French, Middle East and Australian broadcasters.
