This may be interesting: Arm Holdings has been over 370p but has constantly been talked down by brokers. They have poo-pooed any suggestion of bid from Apple and say the success from iPhone has been double counted. Just looked at the price at the close and it is around 320p (up from 306p this morning). It is on a p/e of 40 but it is a pretty unique company.

ARM up 23p (6.8%) today presumably on the back of Intel buying Infineon which uses ARM architecture in its wireless products. Intel have ATOM an ultra low voltage x86 CPU which competes with ARM's RISC chips so ironically, to fully leverage the purchase of Infineon, Intel may have to tout the technology that ATOM is competing against.

This is strange but shows how useful a 'gut feeling' is. ARM hits £4 today!

I think your post heading says a lot when you look at Broker recommendations - Yesterday RBS £4-20 Today Investec £3-60 Share price at close £401.7. I don't know which way to jump?

Bit of activity in Arm (due to announcement of 'cooperation agreement with Google TV).
I still think this is one to have in your portfolio. Might buy some next week (along with BP)

Didn't buy ARM (now 391). Bought BP at 431 (now 437 although that's irrelevant, I am in these for medium term-unless they go to 480p). It's an I-N-V-E-S-T-M-E-N-T !!

ARM Holdings
One for you to analyse here, Dave
Microsoft plans to discuss a new OS that targets low-power devices. Adapted to run on ARM processors as well as Intel. Article:
By Don Clark and Nick Wingfield
   Of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) next month plans to discuss a new version of its widely used Windows operating system that targets low-power devices and adds support for a second strain of chip technology, according to people briefed on Microsoft's plans.
The software, expected to be demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show in early January, will be adapted to run on microprocessors sold by ARM Holdings PLC (ARMH, ARM.LN) as well as the technology popularized by Intel Corp. (INTC), Microsoft's longtime partner in personal computers, these people said. It is not expected to be available for two or more years, they added. A Microsoft spokesman declined comment.
(This story and related background material will be available on The Wall Street Journal website, WSJ.com.)
Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., has been facing pressure to respond to lightweight portable devices such as Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) hit iPad. It has long sold versions of Windows for cellphones that support ARM's technology, but has in the past reserved the mainstream version of the product for the chips based on a technology called x86 that are sold by Intel and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD).
Exceptions to the close cooperation between Microsoft and Intel have emerged in recent years as the two companies have ventured beyond PCs. Intel, for example, has been supporting Google Inc.'s (GOOG) Android operating system in consumer electronics devices and in tablet-style computers, as well as software called Meego that Intel developed with Nokia Corp. (NOK, NOK1V.HE).
An Intel spokesman declined comment. An ARM spokeswoman couldn't immediately be reached.
Microsoft's plans for the new operating system were reported earlier by Bloomberg.

OK, so this has got to be my worst tip. ARM Holdings. Why, you ask, when the share price has gone from sub £1 to its current 518p in two years.
Well I 'napped' ARM at around £1, bought a few PA and tipped it to everyone (although only persuaded a few people to buy it). My posts in this thread show what I thought of the stock recently.

Just to chronicle my stupidity in the hope I might learn something from it, and bearing in mind this is not just 'in hindsight' because, remember it was my NAP of all time (almost).
