I am surprised this share has done so bad.Watching Countryfile on TV tonight, you got the impression we should all be rich ?

Depends where you came in but it has done very well. Originally tipped in Eavesdropper at 8.5p and again at 12p and, er, 19p.
High for the period we have been following it was 20ish.
Eavesdropper is still keen at current levels and he should be publishing his thoughts on the stock very shortly.

Russian, isn't it? Not sure you could trade it easily! Apparently thinking of making a bid for Potash Corp of Saskatchewan. Have you still got Sirius?

Yes,still have Sirus.I would lose too much if I sold now.No choice but to stick it out.
I am about to sell Rheochem, now Lochard Energy.
My profit is dwindling away towards break even.

Thanks for that,I have just read it.
I am tempted to use my Rheochem money. However, after todays Xcite "doing ", I am retreating to safer stocks. If I recover,I am going for the dividend stuff.

PS."Doing".Glasgow word for a terrible experience.

Cervantes, you should have made good money in Rheochem . You bought it early and it had a good run. Not sure about Sirius Minerals, I am probably put off by the relatively high price now compared to when it was first 'discovered' (about 2.5p??). Although Eavesdropper usually does his homework and is not what I would call a gambler. After my years of faith in Geong International I am glad to see he now rates the stock!
My biggest mistake was not buying a stock but NOT buying a stock. That was ARM holdings when they were £1 and below ( I did trade them three times but didn't hold them). But, as they say, 'no good jobbing backwards'!

Rheochem was definitely good to me.The first time I got out,I made £1500 profit.I put the profit back in to the company and got it up to £1900.Unfortunately,I am now out with my £1500 intact.
I am still confident regards Sirus, but not so much with Excite.Taking into account the flow test farce,I have my doubts if the tanker was ever there.
Also, the directers sold at the right time. They knew what was going on.

I sort of get the feeling that Oil exploration and the small mining specs. have had their day. The last few placings we participated in haven't done too well: Lansdowne, New World Oil & Gas, Oracle Coal (which I really liked). I still hold Gulf Keystone but I am in for nothing and my two specs. Intercede and Alumasc are just above water. Oh, and I still hold Lynas, almost in for nothing and it's worth £7000. My trading in Geong over a few years has lost me £9k but my current holding in them is worth about £9000! (after about 20 trades over 3/4 years).Nothing to brag about. And , as you know, my latest punt is GGG which I think will do well in time.

Sirius was one of the first shares I bought when I first started dabbling in the shares markets just over a year ago. I bought for around 3p and sold for around 7p in a very short number of weeks, which led me to believe that trading shares was a piece of cake!! later I took the old dogs advice and bought in to Sirius again at 18p only to watch it plummet. However!!!! If the forums on iii are anything to go by, the Bowser could be proved right shortly, as it looks as though there is going to be a bit of a shortage of potash....

Thought I would resurrect this thread in light of the Sirius (SXX.L) share price, now 23.25/23.75p having been over 24p. I think there is more to go for but I wouldn't blame anyone taking profits if they have them. Sirius has been a great success for our newsletter, Eavesdropper, having been tipped in the first edition (Sept. 2010) at 8.5p http://www.shareworld.co.uk/index.php/alan-watson/newsletter/issue1-september/#pennyspec

Things being dire,I have not had anything worth posting. However, many thanks to Eavesdropper & Shareworld.I got out of Sirus at 19.25p.that gave me a profit of 24.4%.I remember you,Raysor , getting out of Excite at 370p.It was a lesson on how not to be too greedy.Going for safe bets,I have Aviva,BP and Vodafone.AIM,I still have Excite which I think will recover and GMA which I don`t think will recover.

Sirius Minerals just announced they are raising £50m via bookbuilding placing through Macquarie and Liberum. I believe the cut-off is noon today so be quick if you want to get involved!
Funds being used to accelerate development of York Potash and to see the project through to the Definitive Feasibility Study. Current share price is 21.75p-22p and the placing is ecpected to be between 15p-20p
