Investment Terms
Account trading refers to the stock exchange settlement system prior to Big Bang. The trading year was divided up into a number of fixed two week trading periods each with their associated settlement date. There were a few three week accounts to use up the odd days. Any trade date within the two week period had the same settlement date. Buying and selling a stock within the two weeks resulted in a 'closing' bargain and would be settled on balance. Replaced by the present 'rolling' settlement system.
