Google Chrome Operating System
Last week Google revealed details of its operating system - Chrome OS - planned for release towards the end of 2010.
According to reports the system can boot up in around 7 seconds - yes SEVEN seconds! The operating system is free but will come bundled with net books to begin with.
The architecture of Google OS is based around the current online applications that Google has available such as Google Docs - this means your computer running Google OS would need very little hard-drive space as all the programs would be stored online on Google's servers. It would also revolutionise software licensing and probably combat piracy - online based applications could be provided at a much cheaper price and piracy would be much easier to control.
Otherwise known as cloud computing, online application provision is the future of home computing and Google preparing to launch its own operating system that implements cloud computing is an event not to be ignored. I'm sure Microsoft will guarding its 90% market share very closely in preparation for the release of Google OS in 2010.
