Hi Tom

In order to buy and sell shares in the UK you need to use a stockbroker. There are basically two ways to do this: online and telephone based (traditional).
Personally I would prefer to be able to talk to my broker but many investors are quite happy trading online. Possibly with a small account you may be better off with an online broker.

You can obtain a list of brokers from the Securities Institute and for online brokers I expect an internet search will provide the answer.
It might be worth buying a copy of Investors Chronicle or Shares magazine from your local newsagent. You will, I am sure find this informative and interesting and there will be several ads for cheap brokers.

Please use our forum and let us know how you get on (or ask more questions!)
